Storytimes

Kingston Libraries offers a range of Storytime sessions to suit the various ages and needs of our younger community members and their families.

Storytime

Storytime sessions are held weekly* at the libraries listed below. Storytime is a free service suitable for pre-school children aged 2 to 5.

Sessions include stories, rhymes and songs and are usually structured around a theme (like pets or dinosaurs).

Tiny Tots Rhyme Time

Encourage a love of stories and reading with our Tiny Tots Rhyme Time program.

Enjoy an interactive 20 minute session full of songs, rhymes, books, and finger play. Learn techniques to develop your child's early literacy skills and discover the perfect books to choose for baby.

Enjoy the company of other babies and parents and get to see our new books for and about babies and toddlers before anyone else.

Tiny Tots Rhyme Time is suitable for children aged 0-24 months and their parents.

Auslan Storytime

Auslan Storytime is incorporated into the regular Friday Storytime sessions at Cheltenham Library on the second Friday of every month**.

Come and experience a visual language and join in for some stories and songs!

Auslan (Australian sign language) is the sign language of the Australian Deaf community.

 

Second Friday of the month at 10:30am:

8 July 12 August
9 September 14 October
11 November 9 December

Saturday Storytimes

Saturday Storytimes are perfect for families with children aged 0 to 5 years.

Fortnightly, alternating between Chelsea and Cheltenham. For ‘families’ rather than a specific age range.

All Saturday Storytimes start at 10:30am. See below for a list of dates:

For stories and craft for young children.

Enjoy stories and craft for preschool aged children in the beautiful chamber at the Gallery.

Sensitive Storytimes

Sensitive Storytime is designed for preschool aged children with additional needs or those who simply prefer a quieter, calmer, more subdued session.

Sensory needs around sound and light are taken into consideration and visual cues are used to help children follow what comes next in the session.

Enjoy short stories and songs, followed by simple sensory play activities in this 30 minute activity.

Virtual Storytimes

Kingston Libraries Virtual Storytimes are video recordings featuring your favourite librarians reading great picture book titles that you can enjoy with your little ones whenever you like, no matter where you are!
