book cover a song to drown rivers

Genre: Historical Fantasy

Reviewer: Titian

Why I chose this book:

I was looking for a historical Chinese legend

Quick Summary:

There are four great beauties of Chinese history, whose stories changed history. Xishi is a beautiful spy. Sent as a concubine to the Wu king, her job is to seduce him and bring his kingdom down from the inside.

What I thought:

This is a C-Drama in book form.

A sweeping historical story of doomed love, jealously, intrigue and melodrama, it is a page tuner of epic proportions as the fate of kingdoms rides on a young woman learning to conceal her thoughts from the practiced observances of skilled political players and cutthroat courtesans competing for ultimate power.

As she embraces her role a spy, she must sacrifice love for the revenge that drives her. A soap opera in book form, very satisfying.
