Why I chose this book:
It was the pun in the title.
Quick Summary:
Gwen has always wanted to be a Knight. She dreams of escaping the drudgery of keeping the family smithy afloat and entering the jousting tournament disguised as Sir Gwain to prove to herself that girls can be heroes too.
Isobelle has always lived the life of a cossetted Lady, but now her hand in marriage is the prize in the traditional jousting competition, and she will do anything to escape her fate.
When a real life dragon upends the tournament, Gwen finds that the heroic knights of the kingdom are happy to compete when the stakes are a beautiful lady and a pile of gold, but their bravery disappears in the face of a fire breathing dragon.
What I thought:
This book was so much fun.
A sapphic romance and absolute romp, it was entertaining from start to finish. Kaufman described it to me as her covid lockdown book when she and Spooner decided that they were going to make something just uncomplicated fun while the world was so grim.
The narration of the audiobook was great, I loved it.
