Discover the Citizen Science Corner at Chelsea Library
This August and beyond, drop into Chelsea Library and explore our new Citizen Science Corner! It’s a fun, hands-on space where you can learn what citizen science is all about, see real research projects in action, and even borrow a Citizen Science Kit to try at home.
Citizen science means everyday people - like you - helping scientists by collecting important data. You don’t need to be an expert to join in, and it’s a great way to learn new skills while helping the planet.
Exploring Biodiversity Box
Use magnifying lenses and other tools to spot, photograph, and record local plants and animals. Upload your sightings to the free iNaturalist app, and your observations will help scientists study and protect nature.
Measuring Light in the Night Box
Learn how to measure light pollution in your area. This kit helps you understand how too much artificial light affects people, animals, and the night sky, and how your data can support scientists working on solutions.
No matter your age or background, anyone can be a citizen scientist. Come and explore, borrow a kit, and start your science journey today!
