Livestreamed from Sydney Writers’ Festival to Parkdale Library
Join Booker Prize–winning author Alan Hollinghurst for a powerful exploration of identity, memory, and belonging in his latest novel, Our Evenings.
Told from the perspective of Dave Win—now in late middle age—the novel traces a life shaped by family, theatre, love, and a quiet search for cultural identity. Spanning from the 1960s to the present, it’s a moving portrait of self-discovery and transformation, and a testament to Hollinghurst’s extraordinary literary craft.
In conversation with Georgina Godwin, Hollinghurst reflects on a writing career that brought queer literature to the mainstream, and on this tender, expansive new work.
Sydney Writers’ Festival, one of Australia’s most loved forums for literature, ideas and storytelling, will livestream its headline events to Parkdale Library on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 May.
Prepare to be inspired by rich conversations, thought-provoking discussions and powerful storytelling from some of the world’s most acclaimed writers and thinkers. Each event includes the chance to participate in a live Q&A, with questions sent directly to the Sydney stage.
