Westall Library invites the community to mark the 60th anniversary of the Westall UFO sighting, one of Australia’s most fascinating and enduring local mysteries.
On 6 April 1966, dozens of students and teachers witnessed an unidentified flying object, an event that continues to spark curiosity and debate.
The program features a panel discussion and interactive Q&A, where witnesses and researchers will share firsthand experiences and answer audience questions, offering rare insights into what happened.
Attendees will also hear from Shane Rayn, lead researcher of the Westall incident and principal researcher for the documentary Westall ’66: A Suburban UFO Mystery. Shane will discuss his research, the documentary, and his forthcoming book, as well as related UFO sightings in Australia and abroad.
A Recording Studio Oral History Demonstration will showcase preserved stories and guide community members on recording their own histories. This event offers a unique opportunity to explore a moment that placed Westall on the world map.
